Rawalpindi, Feb 27 (V7N)- The final group-stage match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in the ongoing cricket tournament was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to continuous rain at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday (Feb 27).
The match was scheduled to start at 3:00 PM Bangladesh time, with the toss set for 2:30 PM.
However, persistent rain delayed the toss and the start of play.
After waiting for one and a half hours, officials decided to call off the match, awarding one point each to both teams.
Bangladesh, having already lost to India and New Zealand, was eliminated before this match.
Pakistan was in the same situation, having lost to India and New Zealand.
This one point was the only one Bangladesh earned in the tournament.
Earlier, the match between Australia and South Africa was also abandoned due to rain.
With the group stage completed, the semi-final will feature India vs. New Zealand on Sunday, in a battle for the top spot in the group.
