Inter Miami's unbeaten run in the Major League Soccer season came to an end as they suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Montreal. Despite resting Argentine sensation Lionel Messi, Miami couldn't secure victory as Montreal capitalized on their opportunities.

Miami coach Gerardo Tata Martino decided to rotate his lineup, leaving Messi out of the squad altogether and starting with Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets on the bench. However, Montreal dominated early exchanges and took the lead through Fernando Alvarez's header from a corner in the 13th minute.

Although Miami fought back, hitting the crossbar through Robert Taylor and missing chances, Montreal extended their lead with goals from Matias Coccaro and Sunusi Ibrahim in the second half. Miami managed to pull one back with Leonardo Campana's header, but it wasn't enough to salvage a point.

Despite a late surge and a stunning goal from Jordi Alba, Miami couldn't complete the comeback, allowing Montreal to claim all three points and move into second place in the Eastern Conference standings.

In other MLS action, Cincinnati and DC United played out a goalless draw, while Los Angeles Galaxy staged a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against Nashville, with goals from Riqui Puig and Dejan Joveljic cancelling out Teal Bunbury and Dru Yearwood's strikes for Nashville.
