Dhaka, Mar 06 (V7N) – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has removed Naveed Cheema from the position of national team manager ahead of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh national cricket team.
According to Pakistani media outlet Geo Super, the PCB has appointed police officer Irtaza Kumail as the new team manager in Cheema’s place.
Irtaza Kumail, an 18th-grade police officer, joined the PCB two years ago and has been serving as the security manager of the national team. The decision to reshuffle the team management comes as part of broader changes within the board following Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the recent ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
The PCB also confirmed that members of the foreign coaching staff will join the Pakistan squad directly in Dhaka ahead of the series, which is scheduled to begin on March 8.
Before travelling to Bangladesh, the Pakistan national cricket team will participate in a two-day practice camp as part of their preparations. This will be Pakistan’s first ODI assignment since their three-match series against Sri Lanka at home in November last year.
The three matches of the ODI series between Bangladesh and Pakistan will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on March 11, 13, and 15.
Pakistan will be led by star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi in the series.
