Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez affirmed his belief in the confidence and support from president Joan Laporta, amidst swirling speculation about his future with the club. Despite Spanish media reports suggesting that Xavi might be sacked soon, he stated that the club had conveyed a sense of calmness and confidence to him.

Xavi, 44, initially announced in January his intention to leave at the end of the season but reversed his decision in April following an improvement in the team's performance. Reports indicate that Laporta was displeased with Xavi's recent comments about Barcelona's financial challenges compared to the financial power of their rivals, Real Madrid.

Addressing the rumors, Xavi told a news conference that the situation remained unchanged from three weeks ago when he and Laporta had confirmed that Xavi would stay until June 2025, completing the final year of his contract. "The news doesn't interest me, (the club) conveys me calmness and confidence, for me absolutely nothing has changed," he said.

Although Barcelona did not win any trophies this season, Xavi expressed optimism and determination for the next season, especially in light of Real Madrid's success and their likely acquisition of Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe. Xavi acknowledged the need for better competition with Europe's top teams but maintained his hope and ambition for the future.

Barcelona can secure second place in La Liga by winning against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. Xavi emphasized his focus on the upcoming match and reassured his squad amid the speculation about his position. "I haven't noticed anyone unsettled, we are focused on Rayo," he concluded before ending the press conference, which was shorter than usual.
