India dropped to fifth in the ICC World Test Championship rankings after losing to England in the first Test of the series in Hyderabad. Before the start of the match, the runner-up team of the last two seasons was second in the list.

Before the Hyderabad Test, Rohit Sharma's team was only behind Australia with 54 points. After losing by 28 runs, their percentage is 43.33. India was also the table topper. Earlier this month they climbed to number one in the Test rankings after beating South Africa in two days in Cape Town. However, after defeating Pakistan 3-0, Australia took the top spot.

Table position is determined by a team's percentage of points, not wins. India played five Tests with two wins and one draw. They lost once each to South Africa and England. So Bangladesh is above Bangladesh even after playing two matches. With one win in two matches, Bangladesh got 50 percent of the points, while India, who played five Tests, got 43.33 percent of the points.

With 6 wins from the maximum 10 Tests, Ajira is at the top of the table with 55 percent points. Despite defeating India, England have not improved but have gone down a notch. Because West Indies won by 8 runs against Australia at Gabba. The Caribbean is seventh in the table with a better score (33.33) than England (29.16 percent).

India and England will meet in the second Test of the series in Visakhapatnam on Friday. South Africa will face New Zealand in the Mt Manganui Test on Sunday.
