Taskin Ahmed's goal to return to Test cricket is contingent on effectively managing his shoulder injury, according to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) physio Bayjedul Islam Khan.

The Bangladesh pace bowler, who took a break from Test cricket during the last Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) earlier this year due to recurring shoulder issues, has expressed his desire to return to the longer format. Despite this, Taskin continued to play other formats without issue.

Bayjedul Islam Khan noted that Taskin has been playing in T20 formats recently, which require shorter bowling spells compared to Tests. "Taskin’s shoulder problem has been persistent, and it was re-evaluated during the T20 World Cup in June. While the injury hasn’t worsened, it remains unchanged," Khan explained.

The physio indicated that with proper management and rehabilitation, Taskin could resume Test cricket. "Managing such injuries is possible. With continued rehab and workouts, he can maintain his fitness. However, Test cricket demands longer bowling spells and consistent performance throughout the day, which will be a challenge," Khan said.

Taskin participated in fitness tests scheduled for today at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, but due to weather conditions, the tests were moved to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The cricketers, including Taskin, underwent a gym session and other fitness assessments.

Bangladesh is set to travel to Pakistan on August 17, with the first Test beginning in Rawalpindi on August 21 and the second Test scheduled in Karachi from August 30.
