Cleveland, 22 Aug (V7N)- In a thrilling day of tennis at the Tennis in the Land tournament in Cleveland, American McCartney Kessler pulled off a stunning upset on Wednesday, rallying from behind to defeat No. 4 seed Xinyu Wang of China. Kessler, playing in front of a supportive home crowd, secured the victory with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 comeback. This win marked Kessler's first-ever triumph over a top-50 opponent, as she battled back after dropping the first set and overcoming a 2-0 deficit in the second. Kessler's strong finish in the third set saw her win the final four games after Wang had tied it up at 2-2.
Despite the loss, Wang managed to finish with more aces (5-4) and fewer double faults (4-3) than her opponent. However, her early lead slipped away as Kessler capitalized on the momentum shift.
