Mumbai, August 30- Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), will assume the role of Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) starting December 1. The decision was widely supported, with Shah receiving backing from 15 out of the 16 ICC member countries during the nomination process. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chose to remain neutral at the time of his nomination.

Speaking about his upcoming responsibilities, Jay Shah emphasized his commitment to expanding cricket's reach globally, particularly following its inclusion in the 2028 Olympics. "My primary goal as ICC Chairman will be to promote cricket around the world," Shah stated. "Cricket is now played in many formats, and it is crucial to maintain a balance between them. I want to encourage the use of technology to enhance the game's appeal and ensure it becomes a globally popular sport."
