SOUTHAMPTON, England Sept 12 V7N- In a stunning display of power-hitting, Australia's Travis Head led his side to a comprehensive 28-run victory over England in the opening match of their T20 series on Wednesday.Head's remarkable 19-ball half-century, which included a blistering 30-run over against Sam Curran, set the tone for Australia's dominant performance at the Ageas Bowl.The left-handed opener smashed four sixes and eight fours in his explosive 59-run knock, helping Australia reach 86-0 in just 5.5 overs.

Teammate Matthew Short also contributed with a 41-run innings, as the visitors raced to 118-2 at the halfway stage.However, England's spinners, led by Liam Livingstone, managed to slow down the Australian scoring in the latter half of the innings, restricting them to 179 all out.

Undeterred, the home side were unable to capitalize on the momentum they had gained, slumping to 52-4 as wickets fell at regular intervals. Sean Abbott, Josh Hazlewood, and Adam Zampa were the standout bowlers for Australia, sharing eight wickets between them.Livingstone top-scored for England with 37, but when he was dismissed by Hazlewood, their hopes of chasing down the total faded.

The hosts were eventually bowled out for 151, handing Australia a comfortable victory.Australian captain Mitchell Marsh praised the performance, saying, "It was a 200 wicket, and when Heady got going, the conditions didn't matter." Man of the Match Travis Head credited his "freer mindset" and hard work for his explosive innings.The second match of the T20 series will be played in Cardiff on Friday, as England look to bounce back and level the series.
