Beijing, Sep 10 (V7N) – Just as Apple was preparing to dominate the smartphone market with the launch of the iPhone 16 series, Chinese tech giant Huawei has dealt a significant blow by unveiling the world’s first tri-fold smartphone. The release of Huawei's 'Mate XT' series on September 8 has captured global attention, with a staggering 3 million sets sold within hours of the launch.

This surge in demand has been reported by the South China Morning Post, indicating that Huawei's grip on the Chinese market is rapidly growing. The company is positioning itself to directly challenge Apple, particularly in China, one of Apple's key markets.

The Mate XT, featuring a Z-shaped display, has sparked interest across the tech world. Although Huawei has not revealed all the specifications, the tri-fold smartphone is expected to rival Apple’s iPhone 16 series with cutting-edge technology and advanced features. Tech experts see Huawei's innovation as a formidable challenge to Apple's market dominance.

Huawei’s consumer business chairman, Richard Yu, expressed excitement about the company's latest advancements, stating that their most "forward-looking and revolutionary products" are on the horizon. Online platforms such as Xianyou and Alibaba have already capitalised on the high demand for the Mate XT, selling the device for around $2,821 (approximately BDT 300,000).

The Mate XT series will be available in black and red colours, featuring 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage. As Huawei’s Mate line continues to grow, the company’s success in China, especially after the launch of the Mate 60 Pro last year, is posing a significant threat to Apple's market share.

With both companies vying for dominance, the smartphone race is heating up, and Huawei’s tri-fold innovation could redefine the competition.
