Under the auspices of the upcoming National Vitamin A Plus Campaign, an orientation and planning meeting was organized by the Rajshahi City Corporation on June 1. The meeting was held at the conference room of the Sriti Datta Gupta Auditorium in the Nagar Bhaban on Sunday afternoon. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Health Education, Family Planning, and Health Care Provision Permanent Committee of Rajshahi, and the councilor of Ward 19, Tauhidul Haque Sumon. Dr. A.B.M. Sharif Uddin, the Chief Executive Officer, was the chief guest at the event.

Dr. F.A.M. Anjuman Ara Begum, the Chief Health Officer of Rajshahi, presented a comprehensive overview of the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign at the meeting, highlighting its significance.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. A.B.M. Sharif Uddin stated, "Vitamin A not only protects children from nutritional blindness but also enhances their immunity against diseases and reduces the risk of child mortality. The National Vitamin A Plus Campaign will be launched nationwide on June 1 to ensure the health and well-being of future generations. It is everyone's responsibility to ensure that no child in the city is left out of this program."

He further added, "Under the leadership of Honorable Mayor A.H.M. Khairuzzaman Liton, Rajshahi is advancing in all sectors. The success of the city corporation must continue."

It was informed during the meeting that through the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign, all children aged 6-11 months will be provided with a blue-colored Vitamin A capsule, while children aged 12-59 months will be provided with a red-colored Vitamin A capsule. In Rajshahi Metropolitan City, the campaign will be implemented effectively with the cooperation of 384 centers and the deployment of 768 volunteers. Each center will have two volunteers, and they will operate from 8 am to 4 pm. The target is to provide Vitamin A capsules to 8,868 children aged 6-11 months and 56,564 children aged 12-59 months. The implementation of this program in Rajshahi Metropolitan City will be ensured through the collective cooperation of the National Nutrition Services, Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Rajshahi City Corporation.

Assistant Director of Health Office, Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, and Medical Officer of Civil Surgeon Office, Tamanna Kabir, also spoke at the meeting. Councilor Alfatun Nesa of reserved seat 4, Councilor Sebun Nesa of reserved seat 3, Budget Officer Shafiqul Islam Khan, Birth-Death Registrar Nazma Khatoon, Dr. Amina Ferdous of City Hospital, Health Education Officer Md. Dulal Hossain, and teachers from various educational institutions, along with health workers of Rajshahi, were present at the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Sheikh Ariful Haque, Food and Sanitation Officer of Rajshahi.
