Beirut, Sep 30 (V7N) – Just days after the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Israel has claimed responsibility for killing another senior leader of the Lebanon-based armed group. Nabil Kawuk, a member of Hezbollah's central council, was killed in an Israeli airstrike, according to a statement released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday.

The IDF's statement confirmed that Kawuk, who was also the head of Hezbollah’s security council, was closely tied to the top leadership of the organization. He was reportedly involved in coordinating terrorist activities targeting Israeli civilians. BBC news has corroborated the IDF’s claims, reporting that Hezbollah has acknowledged Kawuk's death.

Kawuk's death comes shortly after Israel launched massive airstrikes on Friday night in southern Lebanon, killing Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah. Nasrallah had led the group for over three decades, making his assassination a major blow to Hezbollah.

Israeli military operations in Lebanon have intensified since mid-September. According to Lebanese government sources, around 800 people, including women and children, have been killed in the ongoing conflict, with many others injured. The violence has also caused a significant refugee crisis, with nearly 1 million people displaced within Lebanon.

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah continue to escalate, with both sides preparing for further confrontations in the wake of these high-profile deaths.
