Oct 31, V7N-A Philadelphia judge has ordered all parties, including Elon Musk, to appear at a court hearing on Thursday regarding a lawsuit aiming to block Musk’s political action committee (PAC) from distributing $1 million in daily prizes to registered voters in battleground states ahead of the November 5 election. The lawsuit, filed by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, argues that the PAC’s initiative constitutes an "illegal lottery" by incentivizing Pennsylvania residents to share personal data for the chance to win. Musk’s America PAC, which supports Donald Trump’s campaign against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, is at the center of this controversy.

The case, initially scheduled for Friday, was moved up after the judge’s ruling that all parties be present for the hearing. Musk's PAC announced the million-dollar daily giveaway in association with an online petition promoting free-speech and gun rights, which legal experts say could potentially conflict with federal laws prohibiting payments to influence voter registration. Additionally, the Justice Department has expressed concerns about the legality of the PAC’s campaign, warning that the giveaway could breach federal election regulations.

The Trump campaign, heavily reliant on external support for voter outreach, is especially influenced by America PAC’s role, given Musk’s resources and high public profile.
