Dec 03, (V7N) - US President-elect Donald Trump has announced he will attend the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris this weekend. The 850-year-old cathedral, which was severely damaged by a fire in 2019, will welcome visitors and worshippers once again on Saturday and Sunday after extensive restoration work. Trump praised French President Emmanuel Macron for the successful restoration, calling it "magnificent" and "historic."
Macron had set a bold goal of reopening Notre Dame within five years, and he confirmed that the restoration met that ambitious timeline. The project involved 250 companies and hundreds of experts, costing nearly 700 million euros, funded by generous donations from around the world.
Although Pope Francis had been invited to the reopening, he will not attend. Instead, the Pope will visit Corsica the following weekend.
