Moscow, Mar 10 (V7N) – Russia's Defense Ministry has claimed that its forces have retaken three areas near the town of Sudzha in the Kursk region, seven months after Ukraine had seized the territories. The recapture marks a significant development in the ongoing war between the two nations.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian special forces infiltrated Sudzha through a gas pipeline, catching Ukrainian troops off guard. This tactical move allowed them to advance swiftly and push back Ukrainian forces in the area.
The statement further claimed that Russian troops were continuing their offensive in Kursk, aiming to force Ukrainian soldiers out of the region. The three newly captured areas lie north of Sudzha, which has been a key point of conflict.
Reports from Russian military bloggers suggest that Moscow is pursuing a new strategy to spread out Ukrainian forces, potentially weakening their defensive positions. Some analysts speculate that Russia might be attempting to force Ukraine into negotiations by creating additional pressure on its troops.
While Ukraine has not yet issued an official response to Russia’s claims, Western intelligence sources have cautioned that the situation in Kursk could be part of a broader Russian strategy to reclaim lost territory before potential peace talks.
As the war continues, diplomatic efforts remain ongoing. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, while Ukrainian officials will also hold discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. These meetings could shape future military and diplomatic strategies in the region.
With fighting intensifying in Kursk, the world watches closely to see whether this latest Russian advance will escalate the conflict further or push both sides closer to negotiations.
