This latest offensive comes on the heels of a declared state of emergency and imposition of curfew in Haiti, following a surge in violence that erupted last Thursday.

As of the latest updates, the extent of the rebel groups' control over the airport remains uncertain. Witnesses reported seeing an armored truck attempting to breach airport defenses, while port officials and workers fled amid the chaos. Passengers were observed scrambling for safety as the situation unfolded. However, authorities managed to prevent the rebels from gaining entry into the airport grounds.

Concerns are mounting as reports suggest that rebel factions aim to assert dominance over approximately 80 percent of the capital city, Port-au-Prince.
