Sydney, Mar 29 (V7N) – Australia has officially announced the date for Eid al-Fitr, with the celebration set for March 31, 2025. The National Imam Council of Australia confirmed in a statement on Saturday (March 29) that the Eid moon would not be sighted in Sydney and Perth, two of the country's largest cities, on the 29th of Ramadan.

The statement noted that after consultations with local and global observers, the Australian Fatwa Council determined that the new moon of Shawwal will be born after sunset on March 29 at 9:57 pm local time in Sydney and at 6:57 pm in Perth. Since the moon will be born after sunset in both cities, it confirms that March 30 will be the final day of Ramadan, completing a 30-day fasting period.

As a result, Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, marking the beginning of the month of Shawwal.

The announcement provides clarity to the Australian Muslim community, ensuring that families and worshippers across the nation can plan their celebrations in alignment with this confirmed date.
