A cargo ship fell victim to a Houthi attack in the Gulf of Aden, resulting in the loss of three lives and injuries to four others, as reported by Reuters on Wednesday (March 6). The US Department of Defense confirmed the incident, stating that the missile struck the Barbados-flagged vessel True Confidence approximately 50 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni city of Aden. Subsequently, the ship caught fire, exacerbating the situation.

Tracking data indicated that the vessel was en route to Saudi Arabia. Although formerly owned by the United States, the ship is presently operated by a Greek company. In response to the attack, the Houthi group claimed that their warnings had been disregarded by the sailors onboard.

The United States and Britain have issued warnings, signaling potential repercussions against the Houthis following the assault. This latest incident underscores the ongoing tensions in the region and the persistent threat posed by militant groups operating in the area.
