Antalya, Apr 11 (V7N)- Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has firmly rejected any proposal to forcibly displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, calling such plans “unacceptable under any slogan or pretext.”
He expressed this position during a ministerial meeting aimed at halting the Gaza war, held in Antalya, Turkey, on Friday (April 11). The meeting brought together foreign ministers from several countries to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis and seek solutions to the conflict.
Prince Faisal said at a press conference, “We strongly reject the displacement of the Palestinian people from Gaza under any slogan or pretext.” He also criticized the notion of ‘voluntary migration’ as a deceptive term, emphasizing that in the current context, such a concept is entirely unacceptable.
The Saudi foreign minister’s remarks came amid reports that former U.S. President Donald Trump had proposed displacing 2.1 million Palestinians from Gaza and transforming the territory into a “Riviera” luxury tourist zone—a plan widely condemned by the international community.
Prince Faisal called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, stressing the need for unimpeded humanitarian access to the besieged territory.
He also underscored the urgency of ending the war to prevent further suffering and instability in the region.
The Israeli military resumed its offensive on Gaza on March 18, breaking the previous ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement established on January 19. Since the start of the conflict on October 7, 2023, over 50,800 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have been killed, according to local health authorities. The sustained military campaign has left Gaza in ruins and rendered much of it uninhabitable.
Last November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza. Additionally, a genocide case against Israel is currently under review by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
