Kyiv, Apr 22 (V7N)- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Russia to issue a clear and public commitment to refrain from attacking civilian infrastructure, underscoring the urgency of halting missile and drone assaults that have plagued Ukrainian cities.
In remarks reported by Turkish news agency Anadolu Agency on Tuesday (April 22), Zelensky said:
“Ukraine has already promised not to hit civilian infrastructure. Now we are waiting for the same clear promise from Moscow.”
He stressed that Moscow must immediately stop launching missiles and long-range drone attacks, warning that failure to do so would deepen the already devastating consequences of the war.
Zelensky reiterated the need for a real and lasting ceasefire, stating that Ukrainian representatives will prioritize this objective in upcoming diplomatic meetings in Paris and London. The talks are expected to focus on avenues for peace, civilian protection, and potential frameworks for de-escalation.
“It is their responsibility to stop Russia’s violence. If Russia remains silent, this war will continue indefinitely,” Zelensky warned, placing the onus squarely on the Kremlin to take the first steps toward a peaceful resolution.
The call for restraint comes amid renewed Russian aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities, with power grids, water systems, and residential areas repeatedly targeted—drawing widespread international condemnation.
Zelensky’s latest appeal is part of a broader diplomatic push to mobilize global pressure on Russia to de-escalate and engage in meaningful negotiations, particularly as the humanitarian toll of the conflict continues to mount.
