JENIN, May 21 (V7N) – Israeli forces reportedly opened fire near a foreign diplomatic mission in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, as confirmed by the British media outlet, BBC. The incident occurred in the Palestinian city of Jenin, where a delegation of 20 Middle Eastern, European, and Western diplomats was present to monitor the humanitarian situation in a refugee camp.

According to the BBC report, the diplomatic delegation was positioned at the entrance to the Jenin refugee camp around 2:00 PM local time. Palestinian authorities were in the process of briefing the diplomats on the ongoing humanitarian situation when, witnesses stated, shooting suddenly commenced. This immediately caused panic among the diplomats, who began to disperse and run for cover. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties from the incident.

In response to the event, the Israeli army claimed that warning shots were fired because the diplomatic delegation had not utilized the authorized route for their visit. Tel Aviv later issued an apology for the incident.
