New Delhi, Aug 30 (V7N) – Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized that national interests take precedence over friendships or enmities in international relations, signaling a firm stance amid rising global trade tensions.

Speaking at a recent event, Rajnath Singh said, “There are no permanent friends or enemies, only permanent interests. India does not consider anyone as its enemy, but it will not compromise on the interests of its people.”

The minister highlighted India’s growing defense capabilities and export sector. “In 2014, India’s defense exports were less than Rs 700 crore. Today, this figure has grown to Rs 24,000 crore. India is no longer just a buyer; it has emerged as a significant exporter,” he said.

Referring to the country’s push for self-reliance in defense manufacturing, Rajnath Singh stated that all warships are now being produced domestically. “The Navy is committed to manufacturing warships in India rather than purchasing them from abroad,” he added.

His remarks come at a sensitive time in international politics, following the imposition of a 50 percent tariff on Indian products by the United States. Analysts note that his comments reflect India’s growing assertiveness in both economic and defense matters on the global stage.
