Baku, March 05 (V7N) — Azerbaijan has said a drone attack originating from Iran injured at least two people near Nakhchivan International Airport, escalating tensions between the neighboring countries amid the ongoing regional conflict.
According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the drone strike occurred close to the airport terminal located about 10 kilometers from the Iranian border. Video footage shared by a source close to the government showed thick black smoke rising from the airport area following the attack.
Following the incident, Azerbaijan summoned Iran’s ambassador in Baku and issued a strong warning, stating that the country reserves the right to retaliate if such attacks continue.
Meanwhile, Iran’s military announced that it launched several missiles toward Israel early Thursday, marking another escalation in the widening conflict in the region.
There were no immediate reports of casualties from the missile strikes on Israel, according to reports from AFP.
The incident adds a new dimension to the rapidly expanding crisis in the Middle East and surrounding regions, raising concerns about further spillover of the conflict beyond the primary battlegrounds.
