Washington, Mar 10 (V7N) – Donald Trump, President of the United States, has said that Washington is taking steps to counter threats posed by Iran and its allies to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The information was reported by Al Jazeera.
Trump said the move was necessary to protect global trade routes and added that it could help reduce rising oil prices. “This was a step that needed to be taken. We are very close to ending the war,” he said.
He also stated that the United States is providing political risk insurance for oil tankers operating in the Persian Gulf and may offer direct protection if necessary.
The US president warned that if Iran attacks any vessel under US protection, the consequences would be unimaginable, signaling a strong response to any such action.
