Washington, Mar 10 (V7N) – US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the phone for about an hour on Tuesday amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. This was their first conversation since December.

According to the Kremlin, the main topic of discussion was the Middle East crisis and the war in Ukraine. Yuri Ushakov, diplomatic adviser to President Putin, said that the Russian leader urged Trump to quickly pursue a political and diplomatic solution to the war involving Iran.

Russia has consistently supported Tehran in the conflict, and the two leaders also discussed in detail their respective positions and potential steps to stabilize the region.

In addition, Putin briefed Trump on Russia’s current position and military progress in Ukraine, highlighting Moscow’s perspective on the ongoing conflict.
