Riyadh, Mar 11 (V7N) – Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reported successfully intercepting a new wave of Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting the Middle East, according to statements from their defense ministries.

The Saudi Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that it had intercepted seven ballistic missiles, including six aimed at Prince Sultan Air Base in Al-Kharj province and one heading toward the eastern region of the country. Earlier attacks on the base, on March 1, wounded a US soldier who later died. Saudi forces also intercepted nine drones, five of them in Al-Kharj province.

The UAE Ministry of Defense said its air defense systems had successfully intercepted an unspecified number of missiles and drones, though no specific targets or locations were disclosed.

Meanwhile, Bahrain reported that it had been targeted by a major Iranian missile and drone attack, which has resulted in two fatalities so far.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for attacks on Israeli cities and regional US targets, including Tel Aviv. According to Tasnim News Agency, the strikes also targeted the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and three installations in Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated since the conflict began on February 28, with analysts warning of the risk of a broader regional war.
