Bern, Mar 15 (V7N) — The government of Switzerland has rejected two requests from the United States for military aircraft to fly over its territory amid the ongoing tensions involving Iran.
According to a report by Al Jazeera on Saturday (March 14), the decision was confirmed in a statement issued by the Swiss Federal Council.
The Swiss government said the two U.S. military overflight requests were denied under the country’s neutrality law. However, authorities approved one maintenance flight and two transport aircraft overflights.
Officials stated that the decisions were taken in accordance with international law and Switzerland’s long-standing policy of neutrality, which the country maintains during international conflicts.
