Yemen's armed rebel group, the Houthis, have claimed responsibility for a missile attack on the US warship USS Eisenhower, purportedly carrying nuclear weapons. The incident reportedly occurred in the Red Sea on Friday (May 31).

Houthi spokesperson Yahya Surrey announced that the Yemeni armed forces launched a military operation targeting the USS Eisenhower. "Several ballistic missiles were fired, and thanks to Allah, the aim was accurate and direct," Surrey stated.

Details regarding casualties or damage from the attack remain unclear. The Houthis' statement comes amid heightened tensions following a joint US-UK military operation in Yemen, which resulted in the deaths of at least 16 people.

The Houthi spokesman emphasized that such missile strikes are a response to international attacks, asserting that neither the United States nor the United Kingdom would be able to subdue the Houthis through continued military action. The situation in the Red Sea and the broader region remains tense as the international community monitors developments closely.
