Malappuram, (15 June 2024) – Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, buoyed by his significant victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections, expressed his gratitude to voters in Kerala during a public rally held on Wednesday in Malappuram. Gandhi, who won the election from the South Wayanad constituency with a substantial margin, took the opportunity to thank the electorate and critique Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration.

Rahul Gandhi, visibly cheerful, addressed the rally, acknowledging the support from Kerala and other states. "I am deeply grateful to the voters of Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and beyond for their overwhelming support. This victory belongs to the people," Gandhi stated. He humorously contrasted his position with Prime Minister Modi's, saying, "I am a Member of Parliament for Wayanad, and unlike the Prime Minister, I am a man who stays grounded."

In his speech, Gandhi took a swipe at Modi's pre-election claims, "Modiji said they would secure 400 seats, then revised it to 300. When even that seemed implausible, he turned to spiritual rhetoric." Gandhi accused Modi of prioritizing corporate interests, particularly those of Adani and Ambani, over the welfare of the common people. "Modiji's so-called divine guidance seems to always favor handing over public assets to Adani," he remarked, referencing the allocation of major airports and power plants.

Emphasizing the grassroots strength of his campaign, Gandhi credited the poor and marginalized for his success. "The people have shown the Prime Minister that he cannot dictate terms to India. The Constitution is our voice, and it cannot be tampered with," he declared.

Gandhi also highlighted the symbolic victory in Ayodhya, where BJP faced a defeat. "The people of Ayodhya have sent a clear message: love triumphs over hate, and humility over arrogance," he said, underscoring a broader rejection of divisive politics.

Looking ahead, Gandhi asserted that the new government in Delhi, despite BJP's reduced majority, would face strong opposition. "The Congress party will continue to advocate for pro-poor policies and hold the government accountable," he promised.

Rahul Gandhi's post-election rhetoric signals a robust opposition strategy and a commitment to challenging Modi's policies over the next five years. As the Congress leader steps into his role with renewed vigor, the political landscape in India appears set for intense engagement and scrutiny.
