Gaza, July 2, 2024 — Another journalist has been killed in Gaza, bringing the total number of journalists killed since the start of Israel's war on October 7 to 153, according to Gaza's official media office. Qatar-based media Al Jazeera reported this information on Monday.

The latest victim is Muhammad Mahmud Abu Sharia, a journalist working for Shams News Agency. He lost his life in an Israeli military bomb attack. Locals discovered his dismembered body at the scene.

The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has labeled the Gaza conflict as the "deadliest for journalists." Additionally, the Washington-based International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) noted in February that the level of violence against journalists in the Gaza war is the highest it has been in 30 years.

According to local health authorities in Gaza, the Israel-Hamas war has resulted in approximately 37,900 Palestinian deaths, most of whom are women and children. Furthermore, about 87,000 Palestinians have been injured.
