Reykjavik, August 27 – A tragic avalanche has claimed the life of one person and left two foreign tourists missing at a glacier cave in southern Iceland. Rescue teams are actively conducting a search operation to locate the missing individuals, according to BBC News.

The incident occurred on the Bridamarkurjökull glacier, a popular tourist destination known for its stunning natural ice caves. A group of 25 tourists from various countries had gathered to explore the glacier's underground formations when the cave unexpectedly collapsed, trapping some of the visitors.

Authorities reported that the avalanche struck just as the tourists were entering the cave. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, where one individual was pronounced dead. The identities and nationalities of the deceased and the missing tourists have not yet been confirmed.

Police officials are proceeding with the search and rescue operations under the assumption that the two missing individuals could still be alive, despite the challenging conditions. The glacier's unstable environment poses significant risks, complicating rescue efforts.

Efforts to recover the missing tourists continue as authorities race against time in hopes of finding them alive amidst the harsh and unpredictable conditions of the glacier.
