KYIV, Sept 2 (v7n)- At least 47 people, including five children, were injured on Sunday when Russian missiles struck a shopping mall and an events complex in Kharkiv, Ukraine's northeastern city. This attack occurred amidst escalating violence, as earlier in the day, Russia reported that Ukraine had launched one of its largest drone attacks since the onset of the full-scale war, targeting power plants and an oil refinery.

The missile strikes in Kharkiv prompted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to renew his calls for allies to provide Kyiv with the capability to launch Western-supplied missiles deeper into Russian territory. He emphasized the need for stronger military support to mitigate the ongoing threat from Russia, stating, "All the necessary forces of the world must be brought in to stop this terror."
In Kharkiv, rescue workers and volunteers rushed to assist injured civilians, carrying them to ambulances as shattered glass and debris littered the area. Many people sought refuge in a nearby metro station for safety.

The attack reportedly involved at least 10 missiles, according to Ukrainian officials. The situation in Ukraine remains critical, with Russia continuing its offensive in the eastern regions, particularly around Pokrovsk, a key military hub. Russian forces have made advances, capturing additional settlements in the Donetsk region.

In response to the ongoing conflict, Zelenskiy highlighted the extensive use of military resources by Russia, noting that last week alone, they deployed 160 missiles, 780 guided aerial bombs, and 400 attack drones against various targets across Ukraine.

As the conflict intensifies, discussions about military strategy and support from Western allies are becoming increasingly urgent, with Ukraine seeking to enhance its defensive capabilities against Russian aggression.
