More than 24 hours have passed since the polling of Pakistan's national elections. However, it is not possible to declare the results of all seats yet. After the slow counting of votes, the results are announced privately.
According to the country's media Zee News, according to the latest private results of 204 seats, independent candidates have won 87 seats. All but a few of them are followers of the country's former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won 60 seats. Pakistan People's Party (PPP) in third position won 45 seats. Besides, Muttahida Qaumi Movement won 8 seats, Istegaam Pakistan Party 2 seats, Pakistan Mashi League and Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam (F) won 1 seat each.Election of the country's National Assembly was held in 266 seats. Accordingly, the results of 62 seats are yet to be declared.
There are a total of 336 seats in the National Assembly of Pakistan. Out of 266 seats, rest are reserved for women and other religions. 173 seats are required to form the government alone. In that case, about 150 seats have to be won out of the elected seats. Therefore, the possibility of any party getting a single majority in this country's elections is very slim.
Meanwhile, the country's interim government has blamed the shutdown of mobile phone services for the delay in declaring results. In this situation, PTI has raised allegations of rigging in the election results. Party spokesperson Rauf Hasan termed the delay in announcing the results as unprecedented.
After polling on Thursday, PTI said it was ahead in 150 seats. However, the results show that even if they are ahead, it is not enough to get a single majority.
Although the party showed quite a surprise in the polls. Earlier, analysts were saying that PTI may be in full swing. And PML-N can easily come to power. But at the end of the vote, it was the opposite. The fight is fierce.
A coalition government will be formed if no party gets a single majority. In this case PTI can form alliance with others. Again PML-N, PPP and other parties can form alliance and come to power.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gahar Ali Khan expressed optimism that they will get more than 150 seats. They said that they will not join forces with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif or Bilawal Bhutto's party. He also said that we are not in touch with PML-N and PPP.
Incidentally, Imran Khan's party could not directly participate in this election. Supporters of the party contested elections as independent candidates. Imran Khan is also in jail after being sentenced to prison. So he could not stand for the vote. However, he voted from jail.
