Habiganj, Feb 20 (V7N) – A tragic road accident occurred on Wednesday evening in Shaestaganj, Habiganj, where two men, including a groom-to-be, lost their lives while out for wedding shopping. The accident took place at Nurpur, located on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway.

The deceased have been identified as Shah Alam, also known as Samayn, the son of Mohammad Shabed Ali from Puraykala village, and his cousin Mohammad Tanvir Soheb, the son of Mohammad Benu Mia, both from the Brahmandora Union in Shaestaganj.

According to Shaestaganj Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) ATM Mahmudul Haque, Shah Alam and Tanvir Soheb were returning home after shopping for wedding items in Shaestaganj town. As they reached Nurpur, their motorcycle was struck by a vehicle, causing both men to fall. Tanvir Soheb died on the spot due to the impact. Shah Alam, who suffered serious injuries, was rushed to the Habiganj District Hospital, where doctors advised transferring him to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Unfortunately, Shah Alam passed away while en route to the hospital.

Locals shared that Shah Alam’s wedding was scheduled for Friday, just two days away. He had been shopping for wedding items in Shaestaganj town in preparation for his big day, but the tragic accident ended his life and that of his cousin.

The police are continuing their investigation into the accident, and the vehicle involved in the crash has been identified. The local community is in shock over the tragic deaths, especially as Shah Alam was looking forward to starting a new chapter in his life, which was tragically cut short.
