DHAKA, March 22 (V7N) – On the second day of Eid-ul-Fitr, festive celebrations continued across the capital as thousands of residents flocked to entertainment venues, turning them into lively gathering points.
The Bangladesh National Zoo in Mirpur recorded the highest footfall, with visitor numbers significantly higher than the first day of Eid. Zoo Director Mohammad Rofiqul Islam Talukdar said the turnout could exceed 150,000 visitors, aided by favorable weather. Children and families enjoyed seeing animals such as tigers, lions, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, crocodiles, and various birds.
Couples and families, like Rajib and Mahmuda from Rampura, said Eid holidays gave them a rare chance to spend time together outdoors.
Lalbagh Fort: Long queues for entry tickets; visitors toured the Mughal-era structure, took photos, and enjoyed the historic grounds.
Dhanmondi Lake: Boating was a special attraction, with crowds enjoying the scenic greenery and water views.
Ramna Park: Families relaxed under rare trees and took boat rides; the park remained busy from morning to evening.
Hatirjheel: Heavy flow of visitors along walkways and lakeside areas; water taxi rides under tight security drew large crowds.
Metro Rail stations: Long queues at Uttara North, Agargaon, and Motijheel, reflecting the festive rush.
Other sites including Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises, Zia Udyan, Ahsan Manzil, National Botanical Garden, Suhrawardy Udyan, Gulshan Lake, and Uttara Diabari also saw large gatherings. Neighborhood parks were equally lively, with mobile food vendors and children’s amusement rides adding to the festive atmosphere.
