Dhaka, Oct 25 (V7N) – The Police Headquarters has released an official list of 44 police officers who were killed during the July-August student uprising. Amid growing misinformation about the casualty numbers, the list was disclosed on Friday through the press wing of the Chief Adviser to the interim government. This list includes detailed information about each officer, including name, title, unit, location, and date of death.

The Chief Adviser’s office stated, “Some news outlets and individuals have been disseminating false or inaccurate information regarding the number of police fatalities during the student-led mass uprising in July and August.” The release aims to address this misinformation, clarifying that these 44 officers represent the confirmed losses within the police force during that period.

Officials underscored that the police headquarters maintains a comprehensive record of police casualties and injuries related to protests or violence. In a statement, the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing urged anyone who claims that additional officers were killed to present concrete evidence. The goal is to prevent further spread of rumors and maintain transparency in the reporting of this sensitive issue.

This initiative aims to foster a clearer understanding of the impact of the uprising while supporting efforts to preserve factual accounts and honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
