Dhaka, Nov 24 (V7N) — The National Review Committee under the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources has proposed engaging a reputable international law and investigative firm to assist in evaluating major power generation contracts signed during Sheikh Hasina's tenure from 2009 to 2024.
The recommendation was formalized in a resolution on Sunday by the committee, led by Justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury. It stated that additional time and specialized expertise are necessary to thoroughly analyze the agreements under review.
The committee aims to determine whether any of the contracts warrant revision or annulment under international arbitration laws and procedures. It emphasized the importance of ensuring that the investigation aligns with global standards to strengthen the credibility of findings in potential international arbitration cases.

Payra 1320 MW Coal-Based Thermal Power Plant

Meghnaghat 584 MW Gas/LNG Power Plant
The committee stated that engaging high-quality international legal and investigative firms is essential to ensure that their findings are admissible in international negotiations and arbitration. This would help uphold the principles of transparency and due process.
The interim government is expected to act on this recommendation to expedite the review process and determine the future of the agreements in line with international legal frameworks.
