The ongoing armed conflict in Myanmar has once again spread panic on the Bangladesh border. Shahpori Island of Cox's Bazar is shaking with the sound of gunshots and explosions throughout the night. The residents of the island are living in fear.

Although the situation on the border has been somewhat normal for the past few days, the sounds of gunfire and mortar shells have been heard again since Monday (February 19) morning. In this situation, the movement of tourist ships on the Teknaf-Saint Martin route has been closed.

Meanwhile, panic grew after the body of a fisherman was recovered on Monday from the Naf river along the border after 18 days of his disappearance. Locals believe that he died at the hands of a rebel armed group in Myanmar. Law enforcement forces including BGB and Coast Guard are on alert at the border to deal with any situation including the infiltration of Myanmar nationals.
