Madaripur, August 7 (V7N) – Advocate Md. Jaminur Hossain Mithu, Joint Convener of the Madaripur District BNP and a former organizational secretary, has called for a new Bangladesh built on justice, compassion, and youth empowerment following what he described as a “popular uprising” that ended years of authoritarian rule.

Speaking at a post-victory rally organized to mark the first anniversary of the fall of the former government, Advocate Md. Jaminur Hossain Mithu expressed hope for a transformed nation that would serve as a model for the developing world. The event was hosted by the Madaripur District units of BNP, Krishak Dal, Matsyabeeji Dal, and Mohila Dal.
“We dream of a disciplined, prosperous Bangladesh—an ideal state that others can learn from. A land where no one sleeps hungry, no child lives in street dust, and no one deceives another or smuggles national wealth abroad,” said Mithu.
He envisioned a society where empathy replaces exploitation and where women are respected, not shamed. “We want a Bangladesh of pure love and respect for our mothers and sisters—a country where aging parents are not considered a burden,” he said. He emphasized the importance of youth, stating, “Let the youth lead us to our dreams. This must be a Bangladesh of infinite possibilities for the new generation.”
The rally, held Wednesday afternoon, also commemorated what BNP describes as the collapse of a 16-year “fascist regime” led by Sheikh Hasina. Mithu claimed the political environment in the country had been suffocating, marked by the absence of democracy, human rights, rule of law, voting rights, and freedom of speech. “The very institutions of justice and humanity were bankrupt. Even a natural death wasn’t guaranteed,” he stated.
Mithu welcomed the pre-Ramadan announcement of elections, calling it a sign of hope for a long-frustrated nation. “Democracy is meaningless without elections, and elections without democracy are lifeless. We invite everyone to board the election train to build a humane nation. Those who oppose this path will be seen by the people as enemies of democracy.”
Highlighting the importance of direct voting and elected governance, he said the people of Bangladesh had been denied the right to vote for 17 years. “They now want their voices heard. They want their rights restored.”
He credited the July–August mass uprising—led by students and the general public—with freeing Bangladesh from what he termed “a valley of death.”
The rally was held under the direction of BNP Central Executive Committee's Assistant Organizational Secretary and Pabna-3 parliamentary nominee aspirant, Khandaker Mashukur Rahman Mashuk. It was led by Mithu and attended by Md. Ohiduzzaman Khan Ohid, Member Secretary of the District Krishak Dal; Md. Abul Bashar Matubbar, Joint Convener; Ehsanul Haque Nilu, President of the District JASAD; Mosammat Laiju Akter, President of the District Mohila Dal; Md. Abu Sayem Bepari, President of the District Matsyabeeji Dal; and former union member Md. Sarowar Hossain Khan, among many others, including large numbers of supporters.
The event concluded with a victory march through Madaripur town, drawing significant public attention.
