Dhaka, Jan 28 (V7N) — Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia are set to deepen their ties through collaboration in energy and economic sectors, said Foreign Affairs Advisor M Towhid Hossain. He made these remarks as the chief guest at a medal presentation ceremony held at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Tuesday.
At the event, Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Isa Yusuf Isa Alduhailan, was awarded the prestigious Bangladesh Medal for Diplomatic Excellence by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The award recognises his significant contributions to strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
"Saudi Arabia is our trusted friend," said Advisor Towhid Hossain. "Its 3 million expatriates play a vital role in boosting Bangladesh’s economy through remittances. The strong bond between our countries has been further strengthened by Saudi investments in infrastructure, renewable energy, and finance. Together, we have taken significant steps to ensure energy security and promote global peace and harmony."
He expressed optimism about the future of Bangladesh-Saudi Arabia relations, envisioning deeper cooperation in multiple sectors.
Accepting the honour, Ambassador Isa Yusuf Isa Alduhailan expressed his gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh. "This medal is not just my achievement but a testament to the hard work of my entire mission," he said. Highlighting the robust relationship, he added, "Saudi Arabia welcomes Bangladeshis, having issued 2.2 million visas in the last three years, with 7,000 visas being processed daily. Beyond Hajj and Umrah, we see Bangladesh as an attractive destination for Saudi investors and look forward to expanding multifaceted relations."
Foreign Secretary M Jasim Uddin emphasised that the relationship between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia has reached unprecedented heights. He expressed hope that the ties between the two brotherly nations would grow even stronger in the coming years.
The event underscored the mutual commitment of both countries to fostering partnerships that promote economic growth, energy security, and global stability.
