Dhaka, Feb 08 (V7N) – Bangladesh has made notable progress in the latest Henley Passport Index, climbing five places from 98th in 2023 to 93rd in 2025. The index, published by Henley & Partners, ranks the world’s most powerful passports based on the number of destinations holders can access without a prior visa. Bangladesh now shares its position with Libya and Palestine.

The improved ranking reflects enhanced global mobility for Bangladeshi citizens, although the country still lags behind many of its regional counterparts.

Global Rankings Overview:

  • 1st Place: Singapore leads the index, granting its citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 193 countries.
  • 2nd Place: Japan and South Korea follow closely, with access to 190 countries.
  • 3rd Place: France, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, and Spain tie for third, offering access to 189 countries.
  • 4th Place: Luxembourg, Netherlands, Austria, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, and Belgium allow travel to 188 countries.
  • 5th Place: Greece, New Zealand, and Switzerland provide access to 187 countries.
  • 6th Place: Australia and the United Kingdom offer visa-free travel to 186 countries.
  • 7th Place: Canada, Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, and Poland rank seventh with access to 185 countries.
  • 8th Place: United Arab Emirates and Estonia allow entry to 184 countries.
  • 9th Place: Croatia, Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and the United States provide visa-free access to 183 countries.
  • 10th Place: Iceland and Lithuania offer access to 182 countries.

The Henley Passport Index is a widely recognized ranking that reflects the strength of passports based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
