Dhaka, Feb 15 (V7N) – Religious Affairs Advisor Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain has warned that any Hajj agency charging more than the government-set Tk 167,000 for airfare will face legal action, including license cancellation and forfeiture of deposits.

He made these remarks while speaking to journalists at the unveiling ceremony of his book, ‘Islamic Laws’, held at Bishwakalyan Publications in Puran Paltan, Dhaka, on Saturday afternoon.

Dr. Khalid Hossain outlined several strict regulations for agencies handling Hajj pilgrimages:

Minimum 2,000 pilgrims required for approval in the next year.

Advance ticket bookings must be done using pilgrims' names and passport numbers and cannot be held for more than three days.

Each agency must send at least 1,000 pilgrims—agencies failing to meet this quota will not be allowed to operate.

Severe penalties for fraud, including license revocation, deposit forfeiture, and legal action against agencies that deceive pilgrims.

The book unveiling ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including:

  • Farooq-e-Azam, Advisor to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief & Liberation War Affairs
  • Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University
  • Professor Dr. Md. Shamsul Alam, Vice-Chancellor of Islamic Arabic University
  • Abdus Salam Khan, Director General of Islamic Foundation

The government's firm stance on Hajj regulations reflects its commitment to ensuring a transparent, fair, and accessible pilgrimage process for Bangladeshi Muslims.
