Health and Family Welfare Minister Professor Dr. Samanta Lal Sen affirmed on Thursday that the standard of medical professionals in Bangladesh is comparable to that of any other country in the world.

Speaking at a meeting organized by the Sylhet Divisional Health Department at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical Education Conference Room, Dr. Sen highlighted the competence of Bangladeshi doctors, stating that they are highly skilled, comparable to those in developed countries.

Dr. Sen emphasized the importance of providing better opportunities for doctors to ensure quality medical services. He noted the government's efforts to enhance healthcare facilities in both urban and rural areas, underscoring Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's prioritization of the health sector.

Acknowledging the responsibility entrusted to him by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to improve the medical system, Dr. Sen urged medical professionals to work diligently to uphold the honor of their profession.

He cautioned doctors against negligence or inefficiency in their duties, asserting that recommendations would not be accepted if standards were not met. Addressing medical teachers, Dr. Sen emphasized the importance of quality over quantity, encouraging a focus on producing high-caliber doctors.

The meeting was attended by prominent figures including Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof. Dr. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Vice Chancellor of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Medical University Prof. A.H.M. Enayet Hussain, and Secretary General of the central committee of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Ehestashamul Haque Chowdhury, along with top authorities of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College.
