Dhaka, May 13 (V7N) – Angelica Biens, Vice President of the US-based human rights organization Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights, along with Staff Attorney Catherine Cooper, paid a courtesy visit to Mohammad Tajul Islam, Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal of Bangladesh.

The meeting took place on Tuesday at the Chief Prosecutor’s office in Dhaka.

In a post on social media, Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam stated that the visiting delegation showed positive interest in the ongoing war crimes trials and offered constructive suggestions to uphold international standards in judicial and investigative processes.

He added that the meeting focused on maintaining transparency, due process, and global best practices in the tribunal’s operations. The US human rights representatives also expressed support for the tribunal's efforts to ensure justice for crimes against humanity committed during the country’s Liberation War.

The visit is seen as a sign of continued international engagement with Bangladesh’s pursuit of accountability and justice through its war crimes tribunal.
