Dhaka, March 20 (V7N) – Last-minute preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr congregations are underway across Bangladesh, with multiple layers of security and contingency arrangements for adverse weather. Devout Muslims across the country are preparing to celebrate the culmination of Ramadan fasting, offering Eid prayers in congregation and sharing joy with their families and communities.

Sholakia and Dinajpur: Largest Eid Congregations

One of the largest Eid congregations in the country is organized every year at Sholakia Ground, Kishoreganj. This year, the Eid-ul-Azha congregation will be led by Maulana Abul Khair Md. Saifullah, Khatib of Borabazar Mosque, at 10 am. For the convenience of attendees, two special trains will operate from Bhairab and Mymensingh before and after the congregation.

Dinajpur Gor-e-Shaheed Boro Maidan also hosts a major Eid congregation every year. This year, prayers will begin at 9 am, led by Maulana Matiur Rahman Qasemi.

Divisional City Congregations

Dhaka

  • Baitul Mukarram National Mosque: Five congregations at 7 am, 8 am, 9 am, 10 am, and 10:45 am.

  • South Plaza, National Parliament: 8 am congregation with MPs, officials, and local worshippers.

  • Old Trade Fair Ground, Agargaon: 8 am congregation organized by Dhaka North City Corporation.

  • Dhaka University: Masjidul Jami’a – 8 am and 9 am; Salimullah Muslim Hall Jame Mosque – 8 am; Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall lawn – 8 am; Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall playground – 8 am.

  • Bangladesh Medical University Central Jame Mosque: 8 am congregation.

Chittagong

  • Jamiatul Falah National Mosque: First congregation at 8 am led by Hazratul Allama Syed Abu Taleb Mohammad Alauddin Al Qaderi, second at 8:45 am led by Hafez Maulana Mohammad Ahmadul Haque Al Qaderi.

  • Additional congregations under Chittagong City Corporation supervision: Hazrat Sheikh Farid (R.) Chashma Eidgah Mosque, Sugandha Residential Area Jamaat Mosque, Chawkbazar City Corporation Jamaat Mosque, Zahur Hawkers Market Jamaat Mosque, South Khulshi VIP Residential Area, Arefin Nagar Central Cemetery, Sagarika Gorubazar, and Ma Ayesha Siddiqui Chasik Mosque.

  • District stadium gymnasium ground: 8:30 am congregation organized by Chittagong District Administration.

Sylhet

  • Shahi Eidgah Maidan: Main congregation at 8:30 am, led by Hafez Maulana Kamal Uddin Ahmed.

  • Government Aliya Madrasa Ground: Led by Maulana Abdus Salam Al Madani.

  • Kudrat Ullah Jame Mosque: Three congregations at 7 am, 8 am, and 9 am.

Rajshahi

  • Hazrat Shah Makhdum Ruposh (R.) Central Eidgah Maidan: 8 am main congregation; in case of rain, it will be held at Shah Makhdum Ruposh Dargah Mosque.

  • Other local Eidgahs: 7:30–8:30 am.

Rangpur

  • Collectorate Eidgah: Main congregation at 8 am, led by Maulana Md. Bayezid Hossain.

  • Alternative if weather is bad: Rangpur District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center at 8:30 am.

  • Additional congregations: Munshipara Eidgah, Keramatia Mosque, Mandalpara Boro Eidgah, Damodarpur Boro Maidan, Mithapukur Central Eidgah, Badarganj Chandamari Karamatia Eidgah, Pirgachha JN High School Ground, Kaunia Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah, Pirganj Central Eidgah, Badarganj Central Eidgah, and Sadar Upazila Parishad Eidgah.

Mymensingh

  • Anjuman Eidgah Ground: 8 am and 9 am congregations led by Hafez Mufti Abdullah Al Mamun and Hafez Maulana Atiqur Rahman.

  • Other congregations: City’s big mosque – 8:30 am, Madani Noor Jama Masjid – 7 am, Balashpur Eidgah – 9 am, Bangladesh Agricultural University Central Ground – 9 am, Charshasha Central Eidgah – 8 am.

Barisal

  • Hemayet Uddin Central Eidgah Maidan: 8 am main congregation, with arrangements for women’s participation for the first time.

  • Other major venues: Charmonai Darbar Sharif, Baitul Aman Jame Mosque (Uzirpur), Kasai Mosque, Ebayedullah Mosque, Baitul Mukarram Mosque, Keramatia Jame Mosque, Police Lines Jama Masjid, Nooriya School Eidgah Maidan, Anjuman Hemayet Islam Eidgah Maidan.

Khulna

  • Circuit House Maidan: 8:30 am main congregation; if weather is unfavorable: Khulna Town Jama Masjid at 8 am, 9 am, and 10 am.

  • Model Mosque, Khulna Alia Madrasa: 8:30 am.

  • Additional congregations across city wards under Khulna City Corporation supervision.

Security measures, contingency plans for adverse weather, and provisions for women’s participation have been arranged at all major congregations nationwide. Devout Muslims are set to celebrate Eid with religious fervor, family gatherings, and traditional joy.
