Dhaka, Mar 18 (V7N) – The familiar hustle and bustle has returned to the capital’s waterways as thousands of people crowd the Sadarghat Launch Terminal ahead of Eid, taking advantage of the long government holiday to travel home.

Passengers began gathering at the terminal late Tuesday night, with many staying overnight to catch the first launches departing at 6:00 am. Some travelers were even seen having sehri at the terminal to ensure a smooth early-morning journey.

Launch services on the Barisal route are scheduled to depart in the afternoon, while vessels heading to Chandpur begin operations from early morning. Authorities have also introduced changes to the timetable to accommodate the increased demand during Eid.

Passengers said the heavy crowd is a common feature of the festive season. Despite the challenges, many expressed relief at being able to reunite with their families. Almost all launch cabins have been fully booked, while transport officials remain busy managing the pressure.

Law enforcement agencies have heightened their presence at the terminal to ensure the safety and security of travelers during the busy holiday period.
