The government has announced the names of ten individuals who will be honored with this year's Independence Award (Swadhinata Padak) for their exceptional and commendable contributions at the national level. A press release was issued by the Cabinet Division on Friday, disclosing the recipients of the prestigious award.

In the category of Independence and Liberation War, three individuals will be recognized: Kazi Abdus Sattar, the late freedom fighter Flight Sergeant Md Fazlul Haque (posthumous), and the late freedom fighter Shaheed Abu Naeem Najib Uddin Khan (posthumous).

Dr. Mubarak Ahmad Khan will be honored in the Science and Technology category, while Mohammad Rafiquzzaman and Firoza Khatun will receive the award in the Literature and Sports categories, respectively.

In the Medical category, Dr. Harishankar Das will be presented with the award.

For their remarkable contributions in Social Services, Oronno Chiran, freedom fighter Dr. Md Obaidullah Baki, and SM Abraham Lincoln will be acknowledged.

Each recipient will be bestowed with an 18-carat gold medal weighing 50 grams, Tk3 lakh, and a certificate.

The Independence Award holds the distinction of being the highest state honor in the country. Since 1977, the government has conferred this prestigious award annually on March 26, the occasion of Independence Day.
