Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud announced on Tuesday that the government is employing various strategies to secure the release of sailors from the Bangladeshi ship 'MV Abdullah', who were captured by Somali pirates. The statement came following a meeting with Abdullah Ali Al Hamoudi, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Dhaka.

Minister Mahmud emphasized the government's primary objective of ensuring the safe return of the captive sailors and highlighted ongoing efforts to rescue the ship. He expressed optimism about reaching a resolution and underscored the government's commitment to employing diverse strategies toward this end.

Addressing the issue of Myanmar border guards currently in Bangladesh, Minister Mahmud disclosed that approximately two hundred guards are present in the country. He noted that previous instances of repatriating Myanmar border guards through negotiations have been successful, with ongoing discussions aimed at facilitating their return once again.

Furthermore, Minister Mahmud announced plans to expand manpower deployment to other cities in the United Arab Emirates besides Dubai. He also urged Muslim nations to unite in addressing the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, emphasizing the importance of collective action to mitigate the suffering in the region.
