Ukrain, Aug 09 (V7N)- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a firm warning that Ukraine will not cede even a small piece of its land to occupying forces, BBC News reported.
This declaration comes just hours before US President Donald Trump announced a planned meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15, aimed at discussing an end to the ongoing Ukraine war.
Trump hinted that territorial concessions might be part of a peace deal, but Zelensky stressed that any resolution excluding Ukraine’s full sovereignty would undermine peace efforts.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Moscow has seized approximately 20 percent of Ukraine’s territory. Despite this, Russian advances have largely stalled, and Ukrainian counteroffensives have yet to reclaim lost ground.
Putin’s visit marks his first in-person talks with Trump since 2019.
