Dhaka, Oct 30 (V7N)- The Election Commission (EC) has added ‘Water Lily Bud’ to the list of political party symbols, according to a notification issued on Thursday.

The National Citizens Party (NCP) had long requested Shapla as its official election symbol. While the EC had approved the party’s registration, the symbol issue remained unresolved due to differing positions.

Previously, the EC stated that Shapla was not among the allocable symbols, advising the NCP to select from the 50 gazetted options. The NCP, however, insisted on Shapla exclusively and threatened to protest on the streets if denied.

In response, the EC amended the Election Rules 2008 to include Water Lily Bud as an allocable symbol. The NCP has not yet commented on the latest development.
